598868 2007-10-06 23:18:00 How many times must these overpaid prima donnas fail?!

Luxury motels, gorgeous resorts, fat paypackets and an elevated status in society are totally unwarranted.

Wait for the excuse machine to start rollling -- they (AB Management) spent 4 years telling us they knew what they were doing - as per normal they treat us like simpletons and yet never deliver!

They certainly choked. The ABs had 70% possession and 65% territory, a team shouldn't lose with that dominence. They did have some bad luck such as the forward pass that led to frances final try, and the reducing of NZ to 14 men which were bad calls. Sometimes luck goes against you. ALso I think we give france too much respect by playing their sort of game, and always having what has happened in the 1999 in the back of their minds. Maybe it was also the curse of those horrible silver and black jerseys.
I do think rugby in NZ is in big trouble, and we may actually never win the world cup again. Personally I have lost interest in it. We needed to win this world cup for NZs morale, as we had lost both the americas cup and the cricket world cup. We may become like england is with the soccer world cup.

So will the final be France v South Africa, with a South Africa being world champs again.

598869 2007-10-06 23:19:00 The New Zealanders, like the Australians, made the same fatal mistake - the predicted the result of their respective games from their, and their opponents', recent past games.

What really happened is that the English and the French played completely different games from what they used to, and neither the Australians nor the New Zealanders could adapt.

I have never seen the English play like that before. They played out of their skins. Their forward pack looked like the best in the world. Wilkinson got the points, but their forward pack got the ball all the time. The French did something very similar.

Well done to the English and the French. The All Blacks and Wallabies needs brains, and the likes of McCaw and Mortlock didn't have enough to adapt to what the French and English did.

Ahhhh. The days of David Kirk and John Eales.

Was a fair call until you said that...

598871 2007-10-06 23:23:00 We were all aware we hadn't won the World Cup in a while and I personally considered NZ the top in the world due to previous performances and the team dynamic. I think putting any team up on such a high pedestal can lead to so much disappointment but seriously suck it up, stop blaming them and see it as it was ....

The facts will show that if you don't win the world cup, you aren't the world champion or the top team in the world. Rankings mean very little, it is the performances that count and history will show that NZ hasn't been the world champions for quarter of a century, and that this is NZ worst performance ever in a world cup.

The only good thing about today is that Australia were also knocked out. Remember that NZ will probably not do any better than Fiji has done in this world cup, and Fiji players get paid hardly anything.

598872 2007-10-06 23:28:00 I think you're being a bit unfair.
NZ still the greatest rugby nation on Earth. It was a close game. France played extremely well. That's all there is to it. A couple of decisions went against them could have made a difference. Playing in France against the home nation. Not playing in the traditional black jerseys. etc etc. I don't think the ABs played badly at all.

Playing in Cardiff Millenium Stadium!!

I have watch a fair few of their recent games. It looked like both the Wallabies and the All Blacks were playing to a script. The All Blacks especially, have a very definite style that they have used now for a few years. The French cracked it, and the All Blacks couldn't figure out a way around it. Exactly the same thing happened to the Wallabies.

I always thought that it would be the Boks that were going to crack both the All Blacks and the Wallabies though. Can't wait to see them play.

The french send a 2nd or 3rd grade test team earlier in the year which we easily bet, and I believe they did the same thing in 1999. I am sure they learnt more about the allblacks than we learnt about france, and I m sure it gave the allblacks the idea that france wouldn't be too hard, as they had thrashed them earlier in the year.

598876 2007-10-07 00:25:00 Franve didnt win the game, the damn ref did!, forward pass lost the game for NZ simple. That and of course the fact France were mentally tougher than NZ....

Trouble is now, that choke is gonna get worse every time the RWC comes around. The AB's are doomed, if not for the ref, the damn hoodoo they have in knockout matches...We all know 8 out of 10 games, we would beat the French...It cant be easy playing with the AB tag, a lot of peoples hopes on your shoulders...etc etc...

No! What he was pointing out was that in your previous post, you said the AB's were playing against the home nation. I mean how bad does your geography have to be to realize that Wales is not the home nation of France?
