What do want your motherboard to do?

I have the P5Q Pro and it's perfect for my needs - but if you want particular features that it doesn't have, then it'll be a different story.

770329 2009-05-02 04:59:00 Depends on what you're after.

If you want crossfire, get the P5Q-Pro/Premium

The P5QL-Pro is more a budget mobo, not suitabel for the parts you have already.

P5Q Premium has offers quad crossfire and an SSD for express gate, Trusted Platform Module and a really power efficient EPU 6 engine.

Both are very good overclockers, but the premium is more higher class

770330 2009-05-02 06:30:00 Ok thanks,

I agree the P5QL-PRO is a bit poor for my system, so now its p5q pro or premium

770331 2009-05-02 11:54:00 P5Q Pro is a good board. I'm using one - and it was an easy OC for my Q6600. Only thing i would advise is to research the RAM you are intending to use first.

I originally purchased 2x2Gb OCZ Reaper DDR2 1066 - and couldn't get the 4Gb to run in dual channel. My mistake - should have checked the QVL.

Replaced it with Corsair 2x2Gb Dominator DDR2 1066 - and runs really well. A little while ago I tried to up it to 4 x 2Gb (added extra 4Gb) and had no end of problems with stability. Ascent were really good about it and took the extra 4Gb back (can't say enough about how really good Ascent are!).

Anyway - if you are going with the P5Q Pro - and intend using all 4 ram slots - make sure you check the recommended vendor list for RAM + also google board name + ram type as added safety.

I found out afterward that I would have been far safer with 8Gb DDR2 800 (if i needed to have the 8Gb) - but am very happy with the speed and stability of 4Gb DDR2 1066 from Corsair.

Got the case yet?

If price is not an issue as you said then get the Premium.

770334 2009-05-03 00:06:00 Try not to go with Sapphire or Palit, I've heard they have really bad warranties.

Try an Asus/Gigabyte/XFX

Processor is great-but keep in mind that thatone isn't very good for overclocking!

And personally I would get a Seagate HDD. More Reliable IMO.

770335 2009-05-03 02:30:00 Too late,

Ive confirmed the order (Hey! $2036 seems like a good deal to me!)

Anyway, what do mean sapphire is bad at warranties? and I thought Western Digital was better than seagate?

I dont think I want to screw up my warranty by overclocking -_- so the processor seems fine to me.

Is 2036 a good deal?
