| 769450 | 2009-04-29 08:33:00 | i have recently bought a new laptop and everything was fine, until about a month later. As i hate using Internet Explorer I use Firefox, however it keeps on crashing on me. when it crashes its process is still running but not the program, and I can't end process from task manager. If this happens it will take 10 minutes to turn off (guessing it's trying to close down firefox and having problems). I don't like Safari but it does it as well anyway and i think Opera too... Tried reformatting to factory setting still happening. It's a HP laptop. Maybe a software conflict? |

| 769453 | 2009-04-29 09:28:00 | Recently firefox had major stability issues, the latest update fixed that. Try starting firefox in safe mode, wihtout addons and on default settings: Run>firefox -safe-mode If it works fine it safe mode it is most likely an addon not playing nicely. Strange how you say Safari is crashing too, even after a complete restore to factory settings. That makes me wonder if there's a problem with your computer's hardware. Have you tried the Memory Diagnostics Tool? (Vista, not sure if in XP.) Run that first. If that's clean, the next thing I'd try would be making sure you've got all the latest drivers from HP, they have a good website with all the drivers for each model. |
