597957 2007-10-04 21:11:00 Anything you ever bought in bulk and then sorely regretted it?

I bought a box of self-sealing envelopes (500!) years ago and the glue is all dried up now. Still have plenty left as I hardly ever post anything these days. Need plenty of sellotape to seal the suckers now, thus wiping out the cost saving, not to mention that damn box using scarce space in my cupboard.

My only consolation is that I didn't get sucked into buying the pre-stamped ones .

597959 2007-10-05 01:32:00 I am well-known for buying in bulk when things are "on special". In fact the cupboards and drawers in the laundry where the grocery stock is kept is referred to by the family as "the supermarket". :p

There have been a few times I've regretted getting a bit carried away, the most recent items being those Chocolate Krispie biscuits (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz). Darn evil things.

597961 2007-10-05 06:53:00 Speaking of buying in bulk, Due to the wife being ready to drop the next bundle of joy I was obliged to go with her to the supermarket last weekend.

Beer was on Special...woohhhoooo (ok, There is always beer on special)

I bought 10 dozen .

Dunno if I'm expected to go along this week.

597964 2007-10-05 07:27:00 I just popped into the kitchen to grab a handful of biscuits, While in there I suggested Mrs Metla stand side-on to the sink. She seemed to be having a hard time time doing the dishes with that "9 months pregnant ready to drop any time now" slouch they get near the end. Metla (12)

597966 2007-10-05 18:50:00 I didn't really mean where you've indulged yourself and wish you hadn't

More where you bought in bulk and it seemed (and might seem to others) like a good deal, but there's a hidden catch (like some part of it deteriorates quickly) that you didn't notice.

Also, if you've bought some unit that you couldn't get parts for soon after and it was rendered useless long before it had worn out.

Maybe that hasn't happened to anyone else.

Here's another angle - have you bought something, not stored it correctly, then found it had become useless - like for instance rubber bands, which become glue if exposed to light/air/sun for any length of time.
