771299 2009-05-05 21:00:00 Hello to all, I have a gateway laptop with Windows XP sp3, 2GB ram. The problem is that I uninstalled Microsoft Office and another program and after doing so, the laptop started to ask me to install some mass storage device when there was non usb device connected.

So After uninstalling office and the other prog I did a system restore to an earlier date, it restored succesfully but now office and the other program is back on the list and its giving me an error about installing something, when I try to run any of office products it gives me an error to install the program again.

The question is, Is there a way to delete the office program and all its components without doing a recovery to the laptop?? I really dont want to loose all the things I have in it. Yes I tried deleting the program folder but access is denied, and tried using the original disc to install on top and then uninstall it but it also gave me an error.

Thanks in advance!

771301 2009-05-05 21:21:00 Uninstall it again, delete ALL of its folders, (program files, and folders in documents and settings), then use glary utilities below to remove the reg entries etc Speedy Gonzales (78)
771302 2009-05-05 21:48:00 Well it does not let me uninstall it with the Add remove programs, nor Tune up uninstall, just gives me an error. Tried microsoft method to uninstall manually and same error, and now when I try to use recovery (using a partition the computer has for this) it gives me an error on the registry about some systemroot security file not found so I cant do the recovery either... I know I once used a spyware scan to this partiton and eliminated some malicious files with it, I have also the disk to do a recovery but I think its always going to the partition, so now I dunno what to do to make it work... 771303 2009-05-05 22:03:00 Saying it gave you an error is not much help - what was/is the complete error message, numbers, events the lot ? wainuitech (129)
771304 2009-05-05 22:08:00 Download and install Revo Uninstaller:
www.revouninstaller.com

Uninstall using that, even if the error comes up it'll scan for leftover folders and registry entries.

771305 2009-05-05 22:13:00 Ok, I undo the system restore I had done to take it back to where I deleted Office, so the office problem is over but I am at the very beggining again. What happened in the begining was that after deleting office, then using my usb drive to move a program and then taking it out.

When I plugged in the USB drive it asked me for the drivers (which im sure had been installed cuz it had never asked for them before) So I took out the usb and then put it in again and it worked. But now everytime I do a restart its asking me for the mass storage drivers when there is no usb device connected.

I now see it wants to install the mass storage controller, but there is not usb device connected, should I install it??

771306 2009-05-05 22:20:00 Go into device manager(run>devmgmt.msc) and right click your USB mass storage device and reboot.

Then replug your device in.

771307 2009-05-05 22:32:00 Ok, so I uninstalled office but I still see the folder in programs, its about 1.83 MB, is it safe to delete? Also, the mass storage controller problem is still there everytime I restart the laptop. Checked and its on the other devices category, in properties, location it says PCI bus 4, device 9, function 2... JOYBEBA6679 (10686)
771308 2009-05-05 23:04:00 Ok, now I see the problem, the problem is the flash card reader drivers, the laptop has an integrated card reader but now its not working. Tried to update driver but it does not find a thing...

Edit

Ok, fixed it, re installed the driver from a recovery feature and its working again, thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!
