770949 2009-05-04 08:10:00 So heres the situation:

I have two desktops which are unable to access the internet or network storage devices. Neither system can ping the router, but are other actively recieving IP address from the router via DHCP.

Both systems can print to network printers and ping the wireless access point. One is connected via wireless the other via ethernet.

Numerous other systems on the network are working perfectly fine. All systems are using the firewall component of ESET Smart Security V4.

Any ideas how to fix this would be much appreciated.

:thanks

770950 2009-05-04 08:14:00 Have you tried switching the firewall off then seeing if it will work, just as a test gary67 (56)
770951 2009-05-04 08:32:00 Yeah tried killing the firewalls made no difference.

BTW: These are basically fresh installs from the same image as a number of the other systems so shouldn't be any conflicts. Scanned both systems for malware using old database versions both clean.

770952 2009-05-04 09:07:00 Fresh Install?

Could it possibly be a hardware problem?

770953 2009-05-04 09:14:00 Annoying question I know but are all the drivers installed? gary67 (56)
770954 2009-05-04 19:41:00 All drivers are installed.

Blam it could be a hardware fault, but I'm not sure with what and the fact that some traffic is working and not others led me to think software other hardware.

Will attempt to find an external DVD drive and boot a Linux live CD if I can find the time.
