| 770523 | 2009-05-03 03:00:00 | Hey I want to set up port fowarding so i can remote into home, but i cant set up port fowarding because I have a modem which gives out 192.168.0.X range to the router which never changes, Then the router gives out 10.0.0.X ranges to connected devices. (think i have asked something like this before). Would it work if i turned off DHCP on the router so the modem is the only DHCP server? |

What do you want to be able to do, look at files/folders, as open from another location , alter then print to the current location etc, or just to be able to see the desktops and read, open, save as if you were sitting in front of the PC ? |

Yeah I want it to be like i am sitting in front of it, being able to control it like remote desktop does over a network. | 770530 | 2009-05-03 03:38:00 | See if this of any use - Team viewer (www.teamviewer.com) - you install it on both the Machine sending and the one(s) you want to look at - you will then see the desktop as if you are sitting in front of it, you can open documents and do anything you like from anywhere in the world. The best part - you dont have to do any port forwarding - it does it all for you, the following pictures are from mine as you can see from the first one - my normal desktop with team viewer inthe background, and opening a word doc and typing crap :lol: As if I were in front of it on my windows 7 PC. The free version pops up with a message when closing, but thats no problem you simply close it. Additional - OK image f1 is down - so attached pictures - hope they work ok. Edited: you can do file transfers as well if needed both ways during the connections. |

You will need to forward Port X from the Modem to the Router (so whatever "external" IP address the modem gives to the router) Then forward Port X again from the Router to the PC you want. |

Possibly to explain this better: Assume you want to forward port 8080 through to a PC with an IP address of 10.0.0.93 Say your Router's "external" IP address is 192.168.0.2. On your _modem_ you need to forward port 8080 through to 192.168.0.2. Then, on your _router_, you need to forward port 8080 through to 10.0.0.93 |
