600746 2007-10-11 23:11:00 Hi Team

I want to look up a UK phone number (London) but can't find the international directories on Telecom's site. I have used them in the past but they are no longer obvious, or so it seems.

Of course I could just be blind, or stupid, or both, but a pointer would be very helpful and appreciated.

Cheers

There is a link down the bottom 'World Clock and Directories'?

600748 2007-10-11 23:16:00 Might that have something to do with the fact that Telecom has recently sold the Yellow Pages?

Why not phone 123 and ask them.

600751 2007-10-12 02:19:00 Thanks guys, it appears I was blind, but I was happier then, I had hope! Now I find that the company I wanted to contact is defunct (as I suspected from Google searches) so I'm stuffed.

I was looking for the service manual for a 1960's vintage Dawe Instruments 1419A octave band sound level meter that I want to restore, so unless one of you has just that rare and unusual item hidden in your archives, I am @#*! out of luck and any restoring will have to follow the traditional fumble and fluke methodology.

For any aging techs out there who might remember them, it is full of Mullard OC71's in aluminium cans, which is a fair indicator of extreme age.

Cheers

600752 2007-10-12 03:17:00 I suppose you've looked at this site (www.iop.org)? Greg (193)
600753 2007-10-12 03:54:00 I suppose you've looked at this site ( . iop . org/EJ/abstract/0950-7671/24/3/414" target="_blank">www . iop . org)?
Yes, I have thanks Greg . Problem is that access to the article requires an annual subscription of about $NZ2700 for full site access, and the article alone costs around $NZ50 to download .

Unfortunately there is little chance that the article will contain anything more than a scientific critique of design & performance, whereas I would really like a circuit diagram . The instrument is a maze of multiple-pole rotary switches and wiring looms plus hand-wired circuit boards (predates printed circuits) which makes servicing very difficult .

It is a beautiful piece of leading-edge early transistorised technology and it would be a shame to leave it lying dead, but unless I find a previous institutional or individual user with an archived manual, I'm right out of luck .

Cheers

600754 2007-10-12 05:33:00 As a matter of interest,I made the first printed circuit boards at Philip's in Nae Nae.
Arising out of my knowledge of silk screen printing.
