601558 2007-10-16 22:57:00 well, Majority rules, and unless I'm mistaken that must mean many many many people in NZ are right behind the status quo.

Thats democracy for you.

601559 2007-10-16 22:57:00 What the government spends on Waitangi Tribunal expenses is a tiny fraction of the Budget.

Yep, the rest goes on dealing with Maori crime, their prison population and the 45% of new mothers that make up the DPB figures.

14% of the population makes up 45% (and increasing) of the prisons, almost half of welfare dependents and God-only-knows what else.

Presume the recipients of the Treaty Settlements will be returning the necessary funds back to the taxpayer ( or as you eloquently refer to: the Government ) to meet these costs?

That'll fix it aye!

601563 2007-10-16 23:34:00 I wish it was always majority rules, but all too frequently vocal minorities have a disproportionate say, well beyond their numbers or support within the country.
The rule of law must apply equally to all citizens, with equal consequences for infringement.
The racism accusation is trotted out far too frequently, when it is suggested that all New Zealanders should be treated equally under the law.
If the would be terrorists running paramilitary training were a right wing white supremacist group, there would not have been a word of protest from anyone about the police action. The would be Maori terrorists are are equally guilty as the hypothetical white supremacist group of breaking the law.

If I understand you correctly ( that is, your "directed about Caucasian/European people" means "directed towards ), I find this a surprising statement.

I don't recall any examples of it on the forum.

Perhaps you could provide more information to justify such a sweeping statement?
