601367 2007-10-16 00:56:00 Those girlie blouses who side with the ponses who feel it's intimidating... well then rugby isn't your sport

no rugby isn't 'my' sport......

and the haka looks like a celebration of violence similar to a bunch of savages getting wound up on a bit of 'make your own' courage before a big rumble. I'ts not a nice look at all. It's nasty, violent and pre-civilised behaviour and I wish the hell they'd drop it I dont like it at all. Sure it's great photo ops for the press and the audience often seem to like it but it still reminds me too much of a bunch of bloodthirsty nasties winding up before the kill. yuk ! :yuck:

601370 2007-10-16 01:49:00 The haka won't be given up by the All Blacks without some consultation with Adidas - I mean, it is part of the branding of the team.

Nothing to do with Rugby. Or national pride. Or Maoridom.

Just money.

601371 2007-10-16 02:17:00 Get over it girls. The Haka for New Zealand rugby players is a fact of life amongst our players.

The world's rugby nations respect it, other teams respect it, and we take pride in the tradition.

Those girlie blouses who side with the ponses who feel it's intimidating... well then rugby isn't your sport... suggest the oldies go and watch beach sports and the youngers go play round-ball.

Either way... The Haka is part of the spirit of our team's introduction to a game. Our players take it seriously, otherwise why would they participate???

Give our men credit, quit this wimpy baby nonsence in this thread, and try (hard tho it may be, girlie-boys) get behind our team in our national game.

Ummmm, I dont think other nation do respect it now, they simply put up with it otherwise keewees get all precious about it.

Our players prolly only do it because its expected. After Ali Williams last effort v Scotland, I would be embarrassed TBH.

I realize Greg, you are trying hard to troll the thread, however you could already be out voted !

601372 2007-10-16 03:29:00 It's interesting to read the implication that I don't support the All Blacks. Makes me wonder what I was doing at Lancaster Park on a bitterly cold winters day watching Ian Kirkpatrick run the length of the field to score a try in the scoreboard corner or worse, sitting at the top of the Millard stand in a howling southerly watching Fergie McCormick outplay Mick Williment in a All Black trial match for the position of full back. 601373 2007-10-16 04:59:00 Nah, youse guys are just sore because they lost.

Keep it, its only a minute long, if anything they should do away with the boring as hell anthem.

I agree.
The anthems are painful.
At least the haka is amusing.

For example... here's a recorded quote from one of our recent great All Blacks:

"the haka is just as important to me as the actual game. And the thought I put into it, the way I do it, is how I show what being an All Black means to me, and how I demonstrate my respect for all the All Blacks who have gone before me"
Kees Meews (All Black 1998 - 2004)

I'd like to see you rubbish the haka directly to his face!
