600900 2007-10-13 05:01:00 The only catch with Creative is that most 3rd party add ons are actually made for the iPod including ones made by Creative since the iPod market is so huge.
Good grief, that's no catch! Who the heck'd want an ipod add-on for a Creative anyway!!!

You wouldn't.
But Creative have gotten into the lucrative 3rd party iPod add-on market as they were failing to make headway with selling Creative music players. They managed to spend all of the $100 million that they got from suing Apple and they still haven't managed to show a profit for any of it.

600902 2007-10-13 07:46:00 I've got an old Creative Rhomba NX that I have been really impressed with. It is well designed with all the features a MP3 player needs but not bogged down with useless features, and the headphyones that came with it were far better quality than all the other brands available at the time, and probably still better than most brands today.

I will however, be getting an ipod sometime because they can interface with my car stereo & no other player can. I'll probably get a nano because I like to have a display for selecting the track & displaying information about the current track, but it seems like a bit of a waste since I won't be using the video capabilities.

I had a look at the latest Nano in Bond and Bond the other day. Much more impressive than in any pics I have seen. The video capabilities of the Nano are probably better suited to a subway commuting type population than a car driving population as that would be the time when the features come into their own. Other than that the ever evolving UI which is adapted from the iPhone and is a nice improvement from the video capable iPod "Classic" that I have. The fact that just about every major car manufacturer supports the iPod range at OEM level is just another bonus.

When you follow most things that Apple does like I do, you don't miss much. It happened about a year ago

This article is about the court case

This article is about the 100million that Creative squeezed out of Apple. Steve said they were lucky to get it. They weren't going to get that money any other way.

600907 2007-10-13 09:08:00 Squeezed? Lucky?

Dude, its called the law and about not breaking it and if you do, then its time to pay up. Steve ain;t some God that can do whatever he wants and get away with it even though you may think that when you wake up and pray to your white box before taking it off hibernate

PS. what is this inane pride that Mac owners have in the fact that they dont have to power off their machine? I mean hibernate is such a non-feature for most people but if thats what gets you guys really excited, that must (is) be a really crappy machine.

OS X is designed to run 24/7 so there is no need to shut down unless your hooked up to a server. They run silently so there is no noise when hibernating and power use is greatly reduced.

Apple had prior art regarding the iPod UI so creative was lucky to get the 100 Million.

Im happy creative received the money^^
