The sports people were worried about the ground, so the organisers spent a fortune on some "new" plastic flooring to cover the cricket pitch. They needed 6,000 people to consider using Carisbrook for concerts again. They didn't get their tally, but even if they had, I doubt there'll be another rock concert there again. Joe Cocker's sound & light system was amazing. It was also deafening. I could actually feel the reverberation coming up through my seat. I reckon most of South Dunedin heard the concert for free - and the council phones rang hot with people saying it was drowning out their TV. The Exponents were OK, but I admit I was impatiently waiting for Joe Cocker - and he was terrific. (My eardrums rang for a while afterwards, but it was worth it) |

| 599921 | 2007-10-10 09:06:00 | What about bands that you wish never got back together again? Too many to name, GNR should have given up once Slash left, and Billy Corgan should never have reformed Smashing Pumpkins! I've got a feeling when Black Sabbath release a new album next year it will be worth avoiding, and someone should shoot Sting for reforming the Police they weren't that great in the first place. Would love to see original GNR reform complete with Steve Adler on drums, although it wouldn't quite be the same without Slash high as a kite. It would be very cool to see Eric Clapton reunited with the guys from Cream, or even better yet get the Yardbirds back together, Clapton and Page sharing the same stage may just be powerful enough to permanently destroy rap and hip hop, cure cancer and make poverty history. |
