770572 2009-05-04 22:42:00 BK T ---- The manual (www.atlasgentech.com) - in pdf - tells all.

And Yeah the interface is not the most friendly - in fact I have a customer last year that had one of these, some apps he was using wouldn't work, even after setting them in the configuration - after a while  we changed to a Asus ADSL modem and all was well.

770573 2009-05-04 23:11:00 Wainu, I did went through the user manual a couple of times and read it once more just now but still could not find any way to change the IP address! Maybe I'm not tuned to the style of instructions by the author??? Nevertheless, this ST536 is giving me very good speed, almost double of Dlink's 502T and even the newer Linksys WRT310N! But the configuration interface is just not to my 'taste'. bk T (215)
770574 2009-05-05 00:43:00 Good that you are getting fast speeds

Just had a quick squiz at the manual I linked, pages 76 & 77 say you can change the IP address under Configuration / Device ( page 73) I cant personally check if it is or not as I dont have one of those Modems.

Best of luck.:)

OK. Finally found it, it's on page 80.

But when I clicked Edit and typed in the new IP address, 192.168.2.254 subnet mask 255.255.255.0, error message says it invalid address mask. Notice the default ip address is 192.168.1.254/24. What is the last set, /24? Do I need to add the "/24" to the new ip address, making it: 192.168.2.254/24?

770576 2009-05-05 03:41:00 /24 is an alternate (some would say more correct) notation for a subnet mask, and is technically the same as 255.255.255.0. I'm not familiar with the config of that model of DSL modem, it may be that it wants the subnet mask in this format rather than as a dotted decimal. inphinity (7274)
