601357 2007-10-15 01:11:00 Surely they can come up with something more gentlemanly.

Pulling tongues out,I mean to say.

601359 2007-10-15 02:45:00 I think it will be so awakward for the players doing the Haka.
Whatever happens The Al Black Haka challenge and intensity will not be the same anymore UNTIL they win the WC2011.

Can you imagine feeling like a bunch of loosers yet trying to stand up in front of the opponent trying to do it with the same intensity and seeing the smirks on the face of the opponents going "Chokers"

I think the Aussies will soon come up with a smart arse gesture of choking...(gulping air as if dying and laughin at the same time on AB's faces) when the AB's do the haka in front of them !!!

I can bet million dollars the Wallabies will come up with something nasty in the ABs face the next time they face the haka!!

601360 2007-10-15 02:51:00 It's high time for the 'Haka' to retire. bk T (215)

601363 2007-10-15 23:29:00 The initial post was a serious suggestion although perhaps a little facetious. I have played a lot of sport over the years and observed and taken part in pre-match tactics by top teams to remind the opposition that they don't stand a chance. Some are very overt like the haka and some are quite subtle but they only have the desired effect if the opposition are intimidated. If, howeve, it is viewed as a piece of theatre to entertain the audience, then keep it by all means Dally (6292)
601364 2007-10-15 23:59:00 Its passed it use by date, its like an old favorite record thats been trashed! The kids played it once too often and got all precious about it in Wales....now it is a joke, but because its on us, we aren't listening!

Besides which, the current AB's have just killed the AB mantra, they have no invincibility, dominance or mystic that the Haka asserted!

Perhaps when\if we win the RWC title and the above, we can once again start using it.

601365 2007-10-16 00:23:00 Get over it girls. The Haka for New Zealand rugby players is a fact of life amongst our players.

The world's rugby nations respect it, other teams respect it, and we take pride in the tradition.

Those girlie blouses who side with the ponses who feel it's intimidating... well then rugby isn't your sport... suggest the oldies go and watch beach sports and the youngers go play round-ball.

Either way... The Haka is part of the spirit of our team's introduction to a game. Our players take it seriously, otherwise why would they participate???

Give our men credit, quit this wimpy baby nonsence in this thread, and try (hard tho it may be, girlie-boys) get behind our team in our national game.

601366 2007-10-16 00:30:00 Keep it. The fans love it - on either side.

We are all grumpy because of the WC loss. Maybe some of you would rather the AB's lose the Bledisloe and Trinations, and play dipsh** rugby like England did for 4 yrs, but then win the WC? I dunno, really, but I think the players themselves are tops - its the other things that tipped them to lose, like rotation, not playing against top teams before the WC, Carter and others injured and out, and yes - a corrupt ref.
