600005 2007-10-10 08:39:00 Somebody: I agree with you - I have been thinking the same thing for a while :groan:.

Beeswax34: Not if it's an implicit rant .

600006 2007-10-10 08:47:00 Incidentally, I agree with you Somebody
I have noticed it as well (despite being one of the guilty)
IM not about to roll over if I disagree with the mods, but recently I have tended not to wind up those who deserve it

Incidentally Deane, what was with your comment? Rather ahhh... <looking for a nice word> inflammatory/immature?

600007 2007-10-10 08:54:00 Ehh the forum was worse a few years back, far worse than it currently is. Realistically this all comes down to people not agreeing/liking Winmacguy but hes nowhere near as bad as the few who were causing all the drama a couple of years back.

All i can remember was it involved Metla(when does it not?) and few individuals who had a very high opinion of themselves. They seemed to have shut up or left.

Personally i find it endlessly amusing to watch WMG argue with everyone, brilliant to see ole Brucie unleash. If you dont like the arguments then don't read the threads, it only seems to happen in chat!

600008 2007-10-10 08:58:00 Why not just lead by example?

I believe somebody does lead by example.

I don't recall him posting wind-ups, let alone abusive posts - and I certainly don't object to him explaining why he's fed up with aspects of the current standard.

I agree with him.

It is noticeable that several long-term helpers have disappeared recentlly. One of them has told me that he finds too much pettiness & rubbish nowadays to bother.
Fun is one thing - unpleasantness another...

Thanks, somebody, for speaking up.

Edit: And if you're not a "he," sorry

600009 2007-10-10 08:59:00 Melta = word I dare not use.

Alright, The word your looking for must be "awe-inspiring "

Thats my best guess anyway.

Muhahahahahahaha.

600010 2007-10-10 09:01:00 Incidentally Deane, what was with your comment? Rather ahhh... <looking for a nice word> inflammatory/immature?

Which comment?

600011 2007-10-10 09:01:00 A couple of years ago it was far, far worse and I ended up with far better things to do with my time. I've been enjoying my recent return. Mercury (1316)
600012 2007-10-10 09:12:00 This has been happening on a British O/T Forum I frequent, it started with one poster who was a real knowall and doesn't seem to have a life outside.
He has now been joined by a small clique who make posts scratching each others backs....indulging in the sort of nonsenical "humour" characterized by the denizens of A Game of Two Halves.
I don't mind their silly posts, its easy to ignore them but they have started to hijack other threads. Criticism of this results in personal abuse not, so far, dealt with by the Mods.

600013 2007-10-10 09:14:00 I also agree with Somebody on this. stu161204 (123)
600014 2007-10-10 09:33:00 Why is it that some people expect internet forums to be exactly what they want them to be all of the time.

It's very very simple. Just ignore what you don't like - and report posts that go beyond what's acceptable to the moderators.
