| 770705 | 2009-05-03 11:18:00 | earlier today was reading April Netguide, a letter, page10, "Microsoft mischief" this evening opened computer, notification of new updates - i don't know a good one from a bad one so downloaded them, excepting IE, i use Firefox later opened OE and what do you know? no content in "Utube Folder" opened Windows Media Player and some album content gone there is no recent updates mentioned in "Add or Remove" seems there is a faulty update as mentioned by the letter writer, as these problems are similar to his can anyone please tell me what's wrong? where is the OE folder contents? why aren't the updates recorded? |

| 770706 | 2009-05-03 11:41:00 | Well before you update or install any updates (IF you have no idea what it is or does), if it appears in the shield on the taskbar, click on the update / and the link. Then go to the site, and read what it does and what it may do (the issues) It depends on WHAT the actual update was he downloaded and installed, and what it was supposed to fix (or screw up). Some updates (if you go to the link on the MS site), do say they may affect something one way or the other Depending on WHAT OS he had and WHAT Service pack was installed. Unless you tick show updates in add/remove programs (if youve got the right SP), you wont see the rest of the updates |

| 770707 | 2009-05-03 12:13:00 | thanks Speedy, I do check what they are but usually i'm none the wiser I seem to recall something about Media Player so that would answer that part I have updates ticked and have SP2 - maybe i need SP3? what about the folder content in OE? where would that go? I tried a system restore but that didn't return them |
