601094 2007-10-13 05:44:00 After meaning to track down the origin of the phrase many times and then neglecting to do so, I have at last and it seems to have originated in a popular song of the '30s.
Any useful hints about easily finding it for download? The keyword being "easily".
One of the best known versions was sung by Elsie Carlisle with Ambrose's Orchestra c. 1934.

This a .ram link to the song. To actually download you either have to subscribe, or re-encode the stream.

This is the home page for Jazz on Line where the link is located if you do a search for Ambrose, or the song title.

Happy listening :)

601096 2007-10-13 06:45:00 Terry you are a star.
Diolch an fawr.
What a great site this is for help.
And that site is well worth the sub. so I won't even ask about re-encoding.

Thanks for that, Terry.

I can see myself visiting it also.

601099 2007-10-14 01:41:00 Strange..I can just download them..and I haven't done anything "nasty" at all...

I just click on the MP3 link and I have them....256k too!

Maybe they just want NZers to pay for it?

I only took one for permanent...but I think I'll delete it in fairness.

601101 2007-10-14 03:26:00 I was so excited when I started to download yesterday that I didn't even notice that I hadn't logged in after joining.
Yes, its for free....apparently, unless there's a glitch.
Should someone check with the webmaster?
But I don't mind having paid $5, its such a fantastic resource.

601102 2007-10-14 07:48:00 This is the reply I had from Michel, the webmaster:

"You are right. I disconnected the file which is controlling the MP3 access
because there is a bug which don't allow to download the files beginning
with a number. I'm waiting to fix it."

So the time available for free downloads is limited :)

I hate to see a good site like that losing income.
