600925 2007-10-12 14:37:00 Al (The Internet Guy) Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Wonder how much that cost him?

The standards have certainly changed.

He can use the $1.5Million US prize to help buy a presidency now.

600927 2007-10-12 18:23:00 1 . Gore, U . N . Panel Share Peace Prize
Former Vice President Al Gore and the U . N . 's climate change panel won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for spreading awareness of man-made climate change and laying the foundations for counteracting it .

2 . Gore plans to donate his half of the $1 . 5 million prize money to theAlliance for Climate Protection, a bipartisan nonprofit organization that is devoted to changing public opinion worldwide about the urgency of solving the climate crisis .

3 . Two Gore advisers, speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to share his thinking, said the award will not make it any more likely that he will seek the presidency in 2008 . If anything, the Peace Prize makes the rough-and-tumble of a presidential race less appealing to Gore, they said, because now he has a huge, international platform to fight global warming and may not want to do anything to diminish it . One of the advisers said that while Gore is unlikely to rule out a bid in the coming days, the prospects of the former vice president entering the fray in 2008 are "extremely remote . "

and more:

4 . Anyone stunned by the politics of the choice -- clearly a repudiation of the Bush Administration's refusal to sign the Kyoto Protocol -- is either feigning outrage or simply not paying attention .
Today's award shows the activist arm of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in full swing, keeping the 106-year-old prize relevant by using it as a lever to effect change .

5 . The United States tops the planet in greenhouse gas emissions . Not far behind, and coming up fast, are China and India . This year's peace prize puts all three nations and their 2 . 8 billion inhabitants on notice that the rest of the world expects them to set aside self-interest and join a global effort to clean up the atmosphere . Meeting that challenge requires a herculean effort . . . . At the core of that effort is political will . Which is why this year's Nobel Peace Prize is political to the core . And it carries a potential economic impact every bit as profound as the prize handed in 1983 to an imprisoned Polish shipyard worker named Lech Walesa . Like the trumpets at Jericho, that one brought down walls .

600928 2007-10-12 18:46:00 Time for some humour:

President Bush says he's really going to buckle down now and fight global warming . As a matter of fact, he announced today he's sending 20,000 troops to the sun" --David Letterman

"President Bush has a plan . He says that if we need to, we can lower the temperature dramatically just by switching from Fahrenheit to Celsius" --Jimmy Kimmel

"Some good news . Finally, President Bush is going to do something about global warming . He became alarmed when another chunk of ice fell off his mother . " --David Letterman

"Has anybody seen the Al Gore movie about global warming and the environment? Well, the Bush administration has seen it and they are very annoyed about the whole thing . As a matter of fact, earlier today, Dick Cheney shot a projectionist .

One very dramatic scene in the Al Gore global warming movie is when a glacier melts and they find more Al Gore ballots from the election . " --David Letterman

"According to a survey in this week's Time magazine, 85% of Americans think global warming is happening . The other 15% work for the White House . " --Jay Leno

well . . for one thing he invented the internet . . which if he HADN'T done so, we would not be able to have the rousing discussion .

He is a liar and a cad . . he only wants glory for himself and is a hack of the worst definition .

His buffoonery and posturing has brought him derision and ho-hahs from anyone who hears his tripe and self aggrandized schemes . This insult and assault to intelligent and thinking persons has them railing in disgust and derision of his pomposity .

Given the unstable era in which we live, he has become the Phineas T . Barnum of the greenies and Chicken Littles . "There's a sucker born every minute" . . . and they'll vote knee jerk .

The prince of Humbugs . . . . fits well . . don't it?

I met "Mr . Whiney" in VietNam surrounded by his personal camera crew . I can tell that story too if you like . :yuck:

Al (The) Gore said it himself .

It was all the laugh here in the US a while back . . . . they played the press-op quite a few times with him claiming it . . . and I saw it on Jay Leno's Tonight Show . . .

He has tried to squirm out of it, but it was recorded and reported by too many sources to deny . He's an opportunist, liar and all around slimeball .

I don't like the guy even from the first time I met him in Long Binh III Corps in a navy repair shed in Xom Ben Kho and later in a hooch in Bien Hua .

My division officer called him "Mister Whiney" . It fit then . It still does .
