771590 2009-05-06 23:52:00 I would like to know if there is anyone in the Wellington area who could assist with getting access to software used to manage a business where the passwords are unknown. The reason for this slightly odd request is that the regular user has had an accident and possibly will never recover and is unable to communicate. His wife and partner in the business needs to access those systems to continue running their business.

I'm unsure as to whether this means just the password for Windows or that actual applications. I've recommended talking to the software supplier if it is the specific applications but if it is Windows then presumably they will need some means of accessing the data.

If you can't Wanuitech should be able to help

771592 2009-05-07 05:07:00 I have now found that the issue is with accessing the accounts in MYOB and have suggested that they contact MYOB for a password reset. That apparently takes a number of days so if anyone knows a way to bypass the password and is able to help out sooner than that, their help would be appreciated. nickryan (13945)
771593 2009-05-07 07:12:00 If you download and run System Information Wizard (siw.exe) and click on the Secrets icon, that may help with seeing existing passwords. rumpty (2863)

Unfortunately that will not recover MYOB passwords.

nickryan: There are a few recovery softwares for MYOB files on the web, but most cost 30-50 US dollars
