602973 2007-10-19 02:02:00 I see that that Target program about clothing made in China has turned out
To be the over hyped fraud that it always was.
Do I expect to see a apology from TV3 or Target ?
Do pigs fly ?

They are trying to get away by saying that there was no standards to test with before and that now they have forced the government to set standards.

As I recall it, as soon as this program aired people were saying that they used the wrong standard and I also recall a news article reporting that Target specifically asked the testing firm to test at this incorrect standard
That’s my memory, correct me if I am wrong here

I could almost think that Sue Kedgley was behind this

602974 2007-10-19 02:04:00 They done an "expose" on the industry my wife works in, quoted all sorts of standards and regulations, Upon trying to find these bylaws and what not discovered they didn't exist, Which was why she had never heard of them.

Was quite bizarre.

602975 2007-10-19 02:46:00 Never mind the standards etc. Did the tester wear a white coat? Did he wear a Blue coat? Did he try to sell you overpriced substandard batteries?
(Credibility on TV is determined largely by the revenue from the ads. The colour of the coats is important though.)

602977 2007-10-19 03:04:00 I'm actually a bit concerned about this "free-formaldehyde" testing method suggested by government standards. Just because formaldehyde doesn't come out of clothing after soaking in water unagitated for x number of hours doesn't mean that it won't come out slowly over the course of 12 months of wear and washing.

In any case, I do agree that Target should apologise to the NZ public for using a different method of testing and then comparing them to the standards set for free-formaldehyde levels.

602978 2007-10-19 03:15:00 Target has always had a penchant for over-indulging on the negative and skipping a lot of the postive. Have heard that the plumbing one they did, apparently they called in a lot more plumbers than was seen on TV, but yet you only ever see the worst. Target gives all trades a bad name Myth (110)

The beauty industry....with a bit of piercing thrown in for good measure.

602980 2007-10-19 03:35:00 Hmmm,
Target used to have a man wearing a blue coat.
And I do recall him selling batteries.
Didn't realize that they were overpriced sub standard ones though

That program has always been fraudulent, and has always picked on tradesmen and blue collar workers, seems to be some en.wikipedia.org at work, IMO
Glad to see someone finally picked on them.
They have never had any credibility with me, and I would say most other thinking NZers can see through their lies also
