602118 2007-10-18 01:48:00 Are the ipod batteries replaceable?

JayCar sell the kits which include the tool and battery. And that was all without saying the A**** word:D

602120 2007-10-18 01:55:00 For what its worth I bought a Creative MuVo some time ago and have never had any problems with it. FM is ok, plays a number of formats, screen is ok, sound is ok - no worries! andrew93 (249)
602121 2007-10-19 00:27:00 They are, at a cost although you should expect them to last at least 18-24 months or more depending on usage. By that time Apple will have superseeded the model you bought with another better one.

Just because there is a new version out doesn't mean you should dump your old one & rush out & buy it. 2 years is not long enough.

Agreed. So just replace the battery if it does run out. With any luck you will get 3 or more years out of it.

602123 2007-10-19 05:19:00 I would not consider 3 years an acceptable product life - if mine dies that fast I will be giving Apple hell until it is fixed or replaced.

18 months for a battery is reasonable, and there are many third-party ipod batteries - no need to send the thing to Apple for servicing.

Ill let you know after I have had mine for 3 years. Fortunately there are plenty of places out there who can happily replace an iPod battery.
Interesting thing is that computers are often updated or upgraded within 3 years - of course some people have theirs for 10 years with the same OS and hardware.

602125 2007-10-19 05:32:00 ...Interesting thing is that computers are often updated or upgraded within 3 years - of course some people have theirs for 10 years with the same OS and hardware. The difference is that they don't die after three years - just because there is a newer model doesn't mean that everyone will upgrade - older computers will suit many people just fine. I still have computers here over 15 years old still going perfectly. Erayd (23)

iPods shouldn't die either, the 3 years I was originally referring to was regarding the battery life not the iPod- hence the replaceable battery in older models
Sorry for causing any misunderstanding.
