772198 2009-05-13 23:28:00 Hope thats a JOKE - this week alone I have had to repair 7 PC's that HAD AVG8 - what a heap of rubbish (and thats being polite) - PC's lock up, the AV wont update, kills the Internet - and still misses LOTS of viruses.

Hmmm Still misses lots - Today - working on a Customers PC - they complained it was "slow and doing funny things" had latest AVG - all up to date - said it was clean.

Removed AVG - installed nod32 - removed 7 viruses and around 300 Spyware, ran other antispyware programs, removed a further 2259 infections.(that number is not a typo)

I had the same here just yesterday.
Customer had AVG, all up to date and scanned clean.
Removed and installed NOD32, updated and ran scan, found and removed two viruses :punk

Avast is what I use on any home users machines that don't want to pay the bucks for NOD32.

772199 2009-05-14 02:47:00 Stay with AVG its reliable.
Latest free version is 8

I realise I'm a bit late here but...

AVG is not reliable it's a near useless steaming heap of ****.

And the latest free version is 8.5, not 8.

Avast is great for a free AV, NOD32 is even better if you can pay for one.

I see AVG messing up PCs all the time.

772200 2009-05-14 06:28:00 I haven't seen any cases of AVG screwing the system for a while (apart from not picking up infections). See one screwed up by Norton or McAfee most days. See the odd one screwed up by zone alarm. Greven (91)
772201 2009-05-15 05:41:00 Good program.....but wonder how long before you get fed up with the nagging pop-ups you get every day !
Misty ;)

Ah good. I'm not the only one pee'd off with 1/2 screen poups.
Free should be free, without forced advertisng.
Otherwise call it 'ad supported'
