Tax on interest on Savings... & all the other taxes that we pay one way or another. Would one of our mathematical members work that out? So I earn $38,000 -33% = $25,460. -12.5% = $22,277 etc If you see what I mean. PJ  Plus we have to pay rates, which is a local body tax. Plus we have to pay GST on that, which is a tax on a tax... Australia pay a lot less tax than us and have higher thresholds. I believe we are far to over taxed. It has also been reported that the gap between the rich and the poor in NZ is closing, which may mean that the higher income earners are now being taxed too much. The tax threshold for those earning over 60k was supposed to rise in line with inflation, but it never did. The people who are able to become rich in NZ are able to work the system to their advantage. Some NZ businesses have their offices in Australia, so they pay less in tax. |
