| 602127 | 2007-10-19 06:16:00 | My iPod Shuffle 512mb is still running fine. I dunno when they came out (some time ago) but I've charged, flattened, and (heh) dropped it that many times that the battery is still going. | --Wolf-- (128) | ||

| 602129 | 2007-10-19 08:24:00 | iPods shouldn't die either, the 3 years I was originally referring to was regarding the battery life not the iPod- hence the replaceable battery in older models Sorry for causing any misunderstanding. Because apple makes the battery non replaceable, the life of the ipod comes down to the life of the battery. If the battery dies after 2 years, then effectively the ipod has failed, and it needs to be sent to apple at great expense to fix it, eg. to replace the battery. Although the ipod can still be used with a cable plugged into a computer, it is sold as a portable device, so a dead battery is effectively a defective ipod. Sure you can replace the battery yourself by buying a non apple battery kit, and carefully cracking the ipod open (which may or maynot damge the ipods body, but should a consumer have to do this. |

| 602130 | 2007-11-08 20:13:00 | Mets, what did you end up buying, if you have bought one yet? It's damn annoying having to wade through all the pointless dribble in this thread caused by a certain member just to get to read posts that have something useful in them . Chat forum or not, I really wish the mods would clean this thread up . It's got a lot of good info in it . |

| 602131 | 2007-11-08 21:06:00 | Metla: I've bought the Sandisk SANSA c-240 ( . target . com/gp/detail . html/601-8150598-0083348?ASIN=B000IM5GBS&AFID=Froogle&LNM=B000IM5GBS|Sansa_MP3_Player_1_GB__Black_C240&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=B000IM5GBS&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001" target="_blank">www . target . com), although the c-250 ( . target . com/gp/detail . html/601-8150598-0083348?ASIN=B000IM9542&AFID=Froogle&LNM=B000IM9542|Sansa_MP3_Player_2GB_-_C250&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=B000IM9542&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001" target="_blank">www . target . com)is also available . They are both the same physical size though . It has excellent FM radio-on-the-fly recording and with a 2gig SD Micro card I have plenty of room for almost anything I want . My c-240 came with a 1gig capacity . . . and that too was large enough for what I really want it for . . but I added an expansion card for more power! I don't care a fig about pictures, although these can show/save them well enough . . they are just smallish and not what I needed in the first place . Best part is the price . . . here in the US the c-250 is $79 . 95 . . . I think the c-240 is about $20 . 00 more . It also has a really good microphone in it and can record from it too . . . but you get a lot of background noise . The mic is NOT noise canceling nor is it VOX so the levels rise and fall in real time . I have a 12volt charger and also the USB standard cable . . . it is proprietary however as is the battery . I get about 15 hours of recording time and 12-15 hours of playback time if I set the time for the screen display to 15 seconds and the brightness to about 1/2 value . . It's smaller than an iPoo and not as slick and easy to drop from your hands . There are some accessories showing up now here in the US . . but it will play thru any media handler that you might have anyway . . . name brands are what I feel are must for "docking" and not much else . Sandisk makes some nice holders and arm-band things that I don't use . . nor want . . . but they are available . Third-party stuff is starting to show up . Six months of use so far and I like it a lot . 1800+ songs, some silly pictures and about 5 hours of FM recorded material and I still have room for more if I need it . Mine has a total of about 3 gig with a reserved partition for the . . . er . . . whatever it is SANSA needed to be put there . |
