772053 2009-05-07 19:32:00 Hi Guys

I have set up a new business, its pretty small this year.

I am looking for a balance sheet layout for the latest NZ style accounts.

Does anyone know of one is Excel that I can get for free ?

Or even a free business accounts program ?

I will buy one next year when things get bigger.

Regards

772056 2009-05-07 23:33:00 x2 for Cashbook (even though it's a dated GUI and needs some work to bring it into the 21st century, functionality-wise. At least it is developed and supported by a Kiwi company - and it does the job it's designed to do).

Alternatively, you might want to try Xero (not free though)

Yes, but does it have a chart of accounts suitable for preparing final tax accounts ?

I had a look at their web site, but it does not mention this.

772062 2009-05-08 21:34:00 I just created my own.
Monthly in and out.

Then a yearly in / out.

Then from the yearly I do the profit & loss and send that to my bookkeeper who fills out my end of year tax form.

GST I did myself too.

Its not too hard, you don't need fancy applications if you are only a small business.
