601718 2007-10-15 07:55:00 I am looking at 2 superzoom cameras at present, and don't know what in the specs is important. Only looking, as I killed the lens on my Sony cybershot within 18 months, and 12,000 pics.

One has 6 mp, which isn't really important at the size I take pics, 12x zoom, fill in flash, super macro, more picture levels, (only by one), and the Aperture range, that yes, I do play with but don't understand is F2.7-F3.5/F8

The other is 8mp, 15x zoom, remote control, can zoom taking movies, double anti blur, bigger lcd, face detection and the Aperture stops are F2.7-F4.5

After all the reviews I have read, some are complete opposites, one site preferred one, another site the other, so I made a difference list, and that is the main bits of it. Remote isn't really needed, but put it up anyway, as it was there.

601719 2007-10-15 08:29:00 You need to look at the Optical zoom rather than the Digital Zoom amounts. 6 Mega Pixel is probably fine for hobbyists. What is more important is the CCD metering or cameras ability to react and accurately record the light source. Aperture stops relate to depth of field like when you want to have a close subject in focus and the background out of focus (narrow depth of field- vs foreground and background in focus = greater depth of field)

For viewing 100s of images you can try Lightroom from Adobe which is similar to Adobe Bridge in Photoshop.

The first camera specs look better suited to depth of field range.

601720 2007-10-15 08:39:00 That is optical zoom, I don't ever bother with the digital zoom. As for the CCD part, all they both say is sensor, ccd size 1/2.5. But thanks for answering. supergran (108)
