2009-05-11 00:48:00 | Ive got a DVD here that was sent to me from Aus and was recorded off one of their TV channels. However, it is interrupted by adds, weather forecast, etc. Is there any software that I can use to edit the cursed interruptions out? I realise that the DVD itself is finalised, but can I copy it to the HDD and then play it marking the interruptions and then edit them out? :thanks

2009-05-11 01:02:00 | It would take a lot longer to remove the adverts than it would to sit through them. Use your fast forward button on your remote would be easier. VideoReDo, TMPGEnc Xpress or AVS Video Remaker (not free) can remove adverts quite easily or any authoring program and just cut out the advert frames. First you need something like DVD2avi or maybe Handbrake (free) to rip it into an editable format.

Ideally you want an App that will rip the media in segments as defined by you, stitch them all together and save it as file on your computer without re-encoding it. If you had something to do all that in one action then it would be a simple enough project, Though I don't know what this perfect app would be. Not really that helpful is it. |

2009-05-11 10:35:00 | An update: As youve probably guessed I know sweet F-A about what Im doing, so this is where Im up to. I used Handbrake to take whatever file type it was on the disk, and save it into my My Video folder as an .avi file. (It suggested MP4 but I wasnt sure so I settled for something Id heard of.) Anyway, 7 hours later I now have Malcolm Douglas as an avi file and it looks good. I just double-clicked the file and Real Player started it up and although I havent played it right through I have excellent quality video and sound at the start anyway. Sooooooo, now its down to chopping the adds and Weather Forecast out. Can Handbrake do that or what do you recommend? :thanks

2009-05-11 20:12:00 | Handbrake has an AVI output option but it looks like you have it sorted out now anyway. No, Handbrake can't take out adverts. VideoReDo, TMPGEnc Xpress or AVS Video Remaker (not free) can remove adverts quite easily or any authoring program and just cut out the advert frames. Even Windows Movie Maker will do it given time just export it as an avi from there for best results. AVI-PAL setting is there in Movie Settings, Show More Choices, Other Settings, DV-AVI (PAL) Also for this sort of info plus links to programs/tools etc see http://www.videohelp.com/ It is a great resource for video and audio stuff.
