772787 2009-05-10 06:59:00 I have been using my purpose-built computer for video editing (Premiere CS3) for over a year without problem. After updating drivers with Driver Detective I find that it will no longer 'see' my Sony HVR-A1P. It appears in Device Manager under 'Other Devices' - 'Sony HDV-VCR' with the message, 'The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)'. No drivers came with the camera and I have never needed any so far. I have searched for appropriate drivers but cannot find any. I'd be most grateful for any advice.

Then reboot.

772789 2009-05-11 04:19:00 Followed your instructions. After reboot connected camera via firewire. Got 'Found New Hardware' dialogue complete with request for drivers (which I haven't got and can't find anywhere on the net). So still stumped! No problem connecting camera via USB2 for downloading stills. Peter Oettli (14897)
772790 2009-05-11 04:22:00 Should have left the default drivers alone if it was working before you used driver detective. Probably the only way fix it, is to reformat

Double click on this entry in device manager / driver tab / update driver and see if windowsupdate can find one

772791 2009-06-16 14:45:00 I too have had a problem with Driver Detective. It replaced my XP version of the IEEE 1394 (ilink) driver with a 'Unibrain' manufacturer version. My Sony HDRHC7 was then only recognised as a "Sony HDV-VCR". This was not recognised by XP & Pinnacle Studio 12. To resolve the problem, Disconnect the ilink cable from the Camera and use Windows Device Manager ( Control Panel/System/Hardware/DeviceManager) Right Click on the Unibrain controller , left click on the Driver tab, and click on the "update driver" button to get windows to search for a new IEEE 1394 driver. In my case XP SP3 updated it to a "VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller".
Click on "OK" etc to install, and plug the camera in. Viola !

You wont find any "HDV-VCR" drivers from Sony...because there aren't any !
