772737 2009-05-10 03:21:00 Hi everyone, Just got my pc a few days ago, everything is fine except for the motherboard....

Its a Asus P5Q-Premium and every time I start the computer (from a full power off) it goes to this black and white screen with the american megatrends logo (www.ami.com) telling me that I have to set CMOS date and time or continue with default setup.

I shined my torchlight inside to check the battery is there, and it is.

What do I do? Pb Tech NS dont seem to want to help.

My computer says it's 12:20 Am on the 1/1/2002. So please help me get back to the future.

772738 2009-05-10 03:38:00 Go into the BIOS, set the time and date in the BIOS and reconfigure the settings. Then save them, then reboot. Look in the manual under the BIOS options etc Speedy Gonzales (78)
772739 2009-05-10 05:26:00 If what Speedy's said doesn't work.

Battery could be flat.

With some new motherboards a plastic tab is placed between the battery and its contact so its not drained prior to use.

772740 2009-05-10 08:18:00 Thanks guys,

i tried what you said speedy gonazales, nothing happened, and Stormdragon I think my warranty is void if I open the case.

And I had my pc built by PB tech, so wouldnt they remove all the battery seal and stuff?
Sir Prospect (14735)
772741 2009-05-10 08:33:00 Yea PBTech would have removed any tab. If you've tried setting it in the BIOS and can't open the case, then I suggest you take it back to PBTech and explain to them the problem and let them solve it. stormdragon (6013)
772742 2009-05-10 10:59:00 Interesting, I believe I read a thread here less than 5 mins ago where WainuiTech reported having to replace the same model of motherboard.

It was in the thread where a fellow was looking to get into business with the hardware wholesalers.

772743 2009-05-10 19:43:00 Almost the same mobo that was a P5 pro mobo gary67 (56)
772744 2009-05-10 22:10:00 Contact PB-tech. There is either a fault with the mboo or more likely the battery is flat when you bought it. Blam (54)
772745 2009-05-11 04:51:00 Yeah I tried, but they dont seem to respond to my emails anymore.

BTW, I originally asked for a P5Ql-Pro from them, but they told me that they will give me the P5Q premium at no extra cost. Being the cheap person I am, I checked out pricespy and realised that the price difference was about $230. This was my look: .

So Do you think they knew about the problem? This was Pb Tech north shore btw.

I thought Pb Tech had a good reputation?

772746 2009-05-11 05:11:00 Where are you?? Not over the shore I take it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
