2009-05-09 02:53:00 | I tried installing Windows 7 RC today by booting from the DVD it was on. It loaded files ok but then when it got to the 'starting Windows' stage explorer started but nothing else happened. I hit reset and it didn't even give me the option of booting to the disc this time. Is a common problem or is something bung? I would install from my existing Windows 7 but it has decided the DVD driver is corrupt or something like that. | sammo450 (13626) | |
2009-05-09 02:57:00 | did you burn the ISO to the DVD at the slowest speed possible?, sometimes burning the disc at max can corrupt the files. | GameJunkie (72) | |
2009-05-09 02:58:00 | Did you change the boot disk to the cd in the BIOS, when you tried to install it? I wouldn't run it / install it from an existing Win 7 install. Format / install over it | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-05-09 03:11:00 | The disc was given to me by a member of PF1, It's possible the BIOS was reset to defaults. Why do you say format first? | sammo450 (13626) | |
2009-05-09 03:13:00 | Well youre not meant to install an RC over a beta version | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2009-05-09 04:16:00 | It's not a disc error. I just tried booting from my PC World DVD which has build 7000 and it did exactly the same thing. I gets to the explorer stage then everything idles. Would formatting the existing Windows 7 partition help? Thanks for the link Blam, but I'm not trying to upgrade, I want to perform a clean install. I've done it several times with XP without having to format the existing version. | sammo450 (13626) | |
2009-05-09 04:39:00 | Perform a chkdsk/ f on the drive(or just perform a full format, not quik format) Sorry about misunderstanding you post, didn't read it properly:p Blam

2009-05-11 00:45:00 | OK I formatted the partition and tried a again, I waited a while once it reached explorer and it worked. It was just taking a while to get going. All is well now. | sammo450 (13626) | |
2009-05-11 02:08:00 | I installed 7 RC to my working C: which contained Win xp and several other programs. No problems at all. It even packed up some xp files and stored them neatly in 7 | JJJJJ (528) | |
