604480 2007-10-23 03:28:00 Well the title should have got a few of you racing to your keyboards, to tell me it doesn't exist yet, but this is more of a query for content

As for some of us December means school holidays and "bored children"* (especially on the wet days) how about a good selection of free kids games (or demos with a decent number of levels) that don't require the latest greatest machines to run them, and also some good puzzle games, like jezz ball and sokoban

perhaps even a shareware/freeware greeting card maker would be cool to add

Also while I'm on the subject how about an updated index of CD/DVD contents as the old one is a few years out of date and i for one am hopeless at remembering what CD/dvd a specific piece of software was on
And another thing - how about a feature on storing your CDs, i know it's not as sexy as a story about the latest OS/graphics card/ digital penile extension but i think it would be really useful as my Cds are currently stored in untidy heaps all around the place and there must be a plethora of solutions out there

just my 10cents worth
edit how about we update the damn smiley that says 2cents to 10cents

notes

*Bored Children -- This is the state children seem to be in whenever you have just sat down to work, although it seems to dissappear rapidly when you mention lawn mowing, garden weeding, car washing or nappy changing

604481 2007-10-23 07:04:00 How about something covering DV cams/cameras for recording your summer road trip, and how to put that into a movie with some home grown backing tracks (or am I being too creative here?)
any new release games that have been reviewed
Part 2 of building "The Beast"
Lots more hardware and some decent software reviews covering sound editing suites as well as a look at what is on offer with Broadband deals around town.

604482 2007-10-23 08:14:00 There are two great demos from sony that I've been showing people around town, keeps the kids happy for hours, "Jam trax", which is a bit rock and roll, and "Super dooper music looper", suitable for younger kids, both cut down versions of a garage band type music creation system. Both small apps that would fit on the disc reaaly easy. There must be heaps moe stuff out there. limepile (96)

What part would you be interested in knowing about??

How to connect a DV cam, and transfer the video to a hdd then how to edit it / add titles etc to it?

And burning it to DVD?

604487 2007-10-24 05:56:00 Hmm Jam trax and the super looper thingie look good, they would entertain the kids for a while, only downside is the noise the kids'll make  Morgenmuffel (187)

Creating it, and adding a few effects etc . Don't forget that PC World is read by people outside this forum who have different interests .
You would be surprised at the amount of people who don't know how to connect their DV cam to their computer and import the footage, edit it, throw in a few effects and burn it to DVD - as simple as that may sound to PF1 members .

It is only a suggestion .

604489 2007-10-24 06:22:00 Hmm, I could do something but then what?

I couldnt tell you how to do it in Windows 2000 tho (dont know if this applies to any DV cam or not).

The DV cam I have, doesnt work in Windows 2000. 2000 doesnt have drivers for it.

And Panasonic dont have any either.

XP detects it, and installs its own drivers, which work, and lets me transfer to and from the DV cam.

In Nerovision or MM (BUT I think it'll only copy the edited video back to a DV cam with MM)

The only thing that'll work in 2000, is if I connect the serial cable (but this is only for transferring snapshots, not video).
