| 603810 | 2007-10-23 08:56:00 | I have to say here that Vista was the only reason I bought a Mac. Loving it. But it has to be said that I was surprised at how much HDD space the tiger used. You'll notice the past tense there. I looked on the net and found all the stuff I could dump, like all the various language packs asigned to each app, games, why oh why do I need Quicktime ,Safari? iTunes lives on an external drive now, as does my iphoto .Its all gone and my OS is way smaller. Just d/l Gibbon and can't wait to try it, just burnt it to a cd...thats under 700mb...how come a bunch of full time coders in Redmond or at Apple can't do that? I think the argument that people are demanding more is a little off the mark, most of the people I know that use a comp are either idiots or just surf on it. There are also your gamers, but they surf and play,80% of whats in Windows never gets used. They should be like the Linux guys, you get the basic package, if you need more you d/l it, if you can't work out how to, ypu don't need it. From memory there are a few GB of printer drivers you can delete to free up space |
