2007-10-24 00:55:00 | Saw a Wii...it's cute but kinda silly. That doesn't seem to have stopped the masses from buying it. I think the PS3 has quite a few advantages over the xbox360. They are just missing the most important one of all...SALES$$$.

2007-10-24 01:27:00 | I think the PS3 has quite a few advantages over the xbox360. Out of the box, it has hi-def, can play blu-ray disks, and games have no regional lockout (not totally sure on this, but I think I read it on wikipedia). The xbox 360 (even the name is deceptive, MS it trying to make it look like it's caught up, once I saw someone call it an xbox 3), well, the current version, has no high def (in nz at least), and needs an external drive to play HD-DVD's (which are on the losing side of the war if I am correct). One flaw the new PS3 has, is the lack of a PS2 EE, and so all PS2 games are emulated in software, and hence rubbish (the PS2 had a 128-bit CPU. Try emulating that!). Another thing the PS3 has going for it is the option to install Linux. So, now, you can get rid of that PC, and use your PS3 as a home computer! And the PS3 has a built-in PS3-only version of Folding@Home. The Xbox 360 has suffered because of MS's incompetence. The Red Ring Of Death is one example. They still aren't saying what the cause of it is, but fixed units now have a new heatsink on them, so if MS can't even get the heatsink right, what chance do they have of getting the consumor on their side. My 2c. Paramont has just dumped blu-ray in favour of HD-DVD, they were doing both. there is only 8 blu-ray mastering machines in the world opposed to 60 odd for HD-DVD. And only one of those 8 for blu-ray can handle a 50GB disc which is owned by Sony. So no I don't think HD-DVD is loosing the race

2007-10-24 01:37:00 | plod, thank you for correcting me, and winmacguy, true, the PS3 is losing the console war, even though (well, I think) it is the better machine, just like how Macs are better, even though PC's are more popular. See what I mean? MS got in first, and the better side (either Apple or Sony) are losing as a result. | ubergeek85 (131) | |
2007-10-24 01:49:00 | Geekster, Xbox 360 has HD straight out of the box. | --Wolf-- (128) | |
2007-10-24 01:56:00 | Really? Well, that's supprising. I thought that to play hd-dvd's, you had to buy the seperate addon. Muslix64 used one when he was doing his thing with BackupHDDVD, but...now I'm confused... | ubergeek85 (131) | |

Vista is currently sitting on about 8%market share and Mac is on 6.5% with Leopard pre-orders moving very well, it is the top selling OS on Amazon.com Leopard officially ships at 6 pm on the 26th October. Keep it simple, keep it fun, keep it affordable. Go the Wii. |

2007-10-24 02:08:00 | Nope, I mean high-def, as you said here "has no high def (in nz at least)" Unless you were talking about DVDs? If so, you do need the addon, but then who here has a lot of HD-DVDs? Same with the PS3, why pay for a blue-ray player when hardly anyone has blue-ray discs (in nz)
