I would sacrifice practical use for that anyday.

Wait, No I wouldn't, Its a load of bullocks, and iTunes sucked dogs well before the store opened.

Yes maybe, but with a technically challenged partner and two young children, it's a program that the whole family can use without struggle. And with one music library shared across the home network it was easy to setup. I have looked at other ways of doing this with no luck

I am up for suggestions, only needs are that it's got to work on a mixed network. and that the library can be stored from a NAS drive

604591 2007-10-24 20:25:00 In saying that there are many ways around it, one is to load a different OS onto the ipod and the others a plugins for itunes that allow a two way transfer.

Which is what Mlipod for Winamp does. It lets you copy to and from an Ipod.

And you dont have to use Itunes (unless you want to use the Store).

Winamp is now just as good, and most probably does everything Itunes does, except sync contacts / calendar.

604593 2007-10-24 20:35:00 ? No Winamp, for Windows.

I know nothing about Macs, never used one, and most probably never will.

And this (sourceforge.net)

Which also lets you format an Ipod. And it's for Windows.

Altho this plugin hasnt been updated, since Winamp 5.5 came out.

So dont know, how compatible / good it is now.
