I have WinXP Pro cd with me but I can not use it in laptop as dvd drive is broken
What do I do ?

How can I install fresh copy of windows on my dad's laptop ?

I have Installed XP before using dvd drives on my and my friends desktops many times BUT Please help in details as I am not a Pro...
Thanks in advance

773506 2009-05-13 04:10:00 It should have the recovery partition on the hard drive already so you shouldn't need the CD.
Have a look under Toshiba on the Start menu - Programs and see if there is a Recovery option.

What are other option if I do not found that recovery partition ?

773508 2009-05-13 04:20:00 It has either a Recovery partition or a set of Recovery CDs.

If you have neither you could try ringing them to see if you can get another set.

Failing all that you will need the exact O/S (Home oem or Pro OEM) plus all the drivers, which you should find on Toshibas website, audio, LAn, modem, graphics, chipset etc etc.

And not having a working DVD makes it more of a pain, you could try getting an external one.

773512 2009-05-13 06:37:00 this is why i copy some CDs to the hard disk, especially windows installs (3.11,95,98 ME, 2k, XP) if the laptop can boot off a pendrive, make a disk image of the CD and "burn" it to a 1 gig pendrive and try booting off it williamF (115)

That won't work unless you make the drive bootable, with diskpart possibly.

Try this:
