2009-05-12 21:13:00 | My boy has a scratched game CD that he got from one of his mates long time ago and I would like to help him to recover the game for him. Is there any chance? Any software (free) that can help on this? Thanks

2009-05-12 21:20:00 | You can give CD recovery Toolbox (www.recoverytoolbox.com) a try - I have used it a few times to recover data from scratched CD's. Depending on how bad its scratched, you can also take it to your local Video shop - our one here charges $8 I think to resurface the CD's - almost good as new. Sometimes if its not to bad, ISO building software may be able to make an ISO from it, then you reburn it. ISO recorder (isorecorder.alexfeinman.com) will do that easy enough - put in the CD - right click it - create ISO from CD--- Fingers X'ed :)

After doing all the work and burning the CD the boy tells me, "dad, that's disk 2 and I haven't disk 1". So much for it this time round?! |

2009-05-13 10:17:00 | Does the game use a serial number? This post will probaly get deleted if a mod sees it but I have in the past replaced a lost cd or dvd by downloading it via p2p. If your using your key then theres nothing illegal about it | hueybot3000 (3646) | |
2009-05-13 12:55:00 | Take it to The Gamesman. (If you're in NZ) They will polish the disc for you and remove the scratches. Doesn't cost much Worked for a friend of mine when his game was stuffed. Sometimes though, a different drive is all that's needed. Tried to read a scratched CD-RW the other day, wouldn't work in two different Cyberdrive drives, worked pefectly first time in a Liteon.

2009-05-13 19:11:00 | The game's disk has the serial number imprinted(original) and I can't see anything illegal about that. As mentioned above, the boy does not know(at the moment) where the disk 1 is. | notechyet (4479) | |
