606886 2007-10-31 06:57:00 Someone at work noticed that the cover of the phoneline junctionbox(?) situated on the street was smashed
So the receptionist rang Telecom to advise them. 'Yes, we will send someone to fix it soon. In the meantime, maybe place a plastic bag over the top so rain doesn't get in.'

Anyway, later in the day, the receptionist gets a call. In her words, this is what was said:

Telecom worker: We can't find the junction you are referring to
Receptioinst: Where are you?
Telecom: On <roadname> Rd
Receptionist: OK, do you see Harvey Norman?
Telecom: No
Receptionist: Ok, can you see a <courier company> sign?
Telecom: Yes, it's across the road
Receptionist: Ok, the broken junctionbox is right beside that sign.

She then came out and mentioned to us what had happened and we looked across the road for them.

All very innocent enough, but heres the thing...
Harvey Norman fills like half a block of shops and is visible for ages, and on the corner of one of the main roads in this area.

Even better....

the Telecom van was parked in the Harvey Norman carpark when they made the call :stare:

Was it an actual telecom van, or was it one of their subcontractors such as Downers . Harvery normans also is not like the warehouse or mitre10 mega, in that it isn't a particually memerable or visual brand . Infact it is a very bland brand . Unless you see a sign, you probably wouldn't even know it was their .

606892 2007-10-31 20:56:00 He may not have known where he was, been a little unsure of what he was doing, and been a bit late but contractor or not, the Telecom way shows through.
Award him a Gold Theresa and Oak Leaves.

Perhaps you need to visit the New Plymouth Harvey Normans, Its a purpose built building, with its own carpark .

I'd say every man and his dog knows its the harvery norman complex .

The local one here is purpose built, but unless you are at the entrance where the sign is, or can see a sign, you wouldn't know what the shop was. These big box retailing complexes are pretty monotonous and a blight on our urban fabric.

606895 2007-10-31 23:59:00 There are small advertising signs right round the boundary of the Invers Harvey Norman. Is it the same with others? Greven (91)
