605370 2007-10-28 00:24:00 What you do with it is your problem, not anyone elses.

Unfortunately 99% of the world thinks everything is someones elses fault and they should be free to be complete morons without consequences.

99% of the world seems to think that rule applies to everything they do on a daily basis, not just computers.

605371 2007-10-28 00:31:00 So that would blow Metla's theory out of the water.

That doesn't even touch on my "theory".

You seem to think your beloved "code" was delivered to Steve Jobs as a perfect work from angels.

A little comprehension to go along with the reading would be a good start.

Well if it was a bad as everyone suggests it is then it should have been significantly compromised to a much greater degree before now. The article just goes to prove that theory wrong.

605373 2007-10-28 00:58:00 Rubbish. What I said is if it was a massive and lucrative target then it would be compromised.

I willing to believe the code is much stronger then what MS churns out, Sure, have a red balloon. At the end of the day that makes zero difference to my theroy.

You need root_user_access for that to happen.

605376 2007-10-28 03:09:00 Could you please excuse WMG for the inexcusable? He has new trousers and the monocle has not been fitted to the seat yet. R2x1 (4628)
605377 2007-10-28 03:30:00 You need root_user_access for that to happen. And if you can fool a user into downloading a file, then chmodding it to executable, then running it as root - yes, you will have a problem. Most home users will have the root password for their system. That said though, there will be far fewer issues than in a windows environment, simply because of the extra steps the user has to take to allow potentially damaging action - under windows all it takes is a single 'Yes' to tell UAC to run the app, and if you're not on Vista then not even that. Yes. First download or allow the thing to download.
Then allow it to run or click on it to run it.
