606520 2008-01-06 03:02:00 I haven't been keeping on top of video cards, so correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying that there is a new 8800GTS (new reference board, not just one of the brands releasing a factory overclocked card) that is faster than the old 8800GTS? Greven (91)
606521 2008-01-06 04:04:00 Yep. I'm not too informed on the technical side, but it's based on the new G92 chip and has 512MB of memory instead of 320MB or 640MB. I think it's even better than the 8800GTX. qazwsxokmijn (102)
606522 2008-01-06 04:14:00 The 8800GT is an excellent choice for SLI - two of them for the same money as a single 8800GTX should easily outclass the GTX - but there are the game support issues that come along with SLI however.

Then there is the heat that two 8800GT's will produce as they are single slot cards and the considerable heat just pours into the case rather than through a case slot.

However, if I was setting up a gaming rig at the moment then the two 8800GT's is what I'd go for.

606523 2008-01-06 05:32:00 Holy god, you guys should take a look at the influx of second-hand 8800GTS auctions on trademe!

And most are asking for the same price of a new 8800GT or even more! Disgusting .

would a 8800gts 640 be worth buying for $350 .
