| 605284 | 2007-10-25 23:33:00 | I went to a customers place yesterday to work on her PC, it was so badly infected it wouldn't even fully start - I suggested I take it back to the workshop with a possible reinstall needed - her reply " sure no problems - that will take abour 2-3 weeks wont it" ? Er . . . . but a reinstall?? Never done that yet . What about a repair install? As for assistants in shops - when you want help they will all be elsewhere or chatting on the phone . When you are just looking they will be all over you . |

Large dairy, On my way to a site I was working on, called in nearly every morning, get coffee, whatever, Shop assistant, shes on the phone yacking the entire time shes serving, every morning without fail, And god help you if you want to pay by eftpos, They only have the one phoneline, Which means difty looks and crap as she makes you wait while she gets off the phone, then gets impatiant as the process goes through and before she has even ripped off the recipt she has dialed up the phone again and focused on her dribble. Needs a good hard kick up the backside. |

Nope I mean reinstall :D - take a copy of the original drive to save data, (lots of people never back up data) then blow the partition and completely re load the OS to an empty drive. I copied the original drive and tried to clean it - Bloody hell Nod32 and (webroots)spysweeper went nuts - talk about "pop up windows" with warning  As for assistants in shops - when you want help they will all be elsewhere or chatting on the phone. When you are just looking they will be all over you. Heres something I tried once - went into a store - Noel Leeming actually, Went in dressed in "older clothes" not rags, but just not to tidy, giving the impression of " just browsing - wishing I could afford to buy items" - several shop assistants looked but didn't come over. Next day went back in collar and tie - well SAME assistants couldn't wait till I got in the door to offer help, almost got knocked over in the rush. I commented " just looking thanks". |

| 605287 | 2007-10-25 23:58:00 | Is the pouncing on walk-ins, that happens in DSE, Noel Leeming and Harvey Norman, a result of the sales children (I like that term - haven't heard it before!) being paid on a commission basis? Or is it just a twisted version of Customer Service? There was something in Sideswipe in the Herald today about Erin Brockovich and her stand on the pouncers/botherers - since she's representing Noel Leeming, it's ironic that you still get pounced on there . . . |

| 605288 | 2007-10-26 00:27:00 | DSE experience. Asked about a numerical keypad USB device to plug into my laptop. The salesmoron didn't really know what it was but said he would ask for me. I watched him return to the counter and start serving another person, completely ignoring me. I got mad and asked for the manager, explained my situation and he got the item for me and discounted it. It pays to let the management know what is happening otherwise these idiots get away with it. Another pet hate: the salesperson who doesn't know what you are after but nevertheless says they haven't any in stock (you can tell by the blank look in their face). Tried to buy window glass points by describing them to the boy. When he said they hadn't got any, I asked him whether he knew what I was asking for. He admitted he didn't know so I told him to get someone who had experience. The new salesperson knew what I was after and sold some to me. Now I immediately ask if they know what I am talking about when I see the blank face and ask for someone who can help me. I don't mind if they admit their inexperience and seek help from more experienced staff, but to bull**** me is just not on. And one more thing. After reading the fine print on items to find out if they are suitable for my purpose eg adhesives, and then seeking help when I can't find anything suitable, only to have the salesperson start reading the fine print themselves. Do you think I am a moron who can't read? If they don't know offhand, again, they should seek help from another salesperson who does. Rant over... |

| 605290 | 2007-10-26 01:12:00 | I am impressed that you managed to find a DSE staffer who could read without a diligent search through the entire staff. It is their policy to always have one staff member that can read, and one who can tell the time. Sometimes the manager has to fill in for both these skilled operatives. ;) ;) | R2x1 (4628) | ||
| 605291 | 2007-10-26 01:40:00 | Went Monday to DSE to get a radio microphone clip, a young chick tried to look in wrong section said had had none. I got number from catalouge, asked at counter, young as dude looked on computer no stock. About 5 seconds later my dragon calls out, there is a chrome stick with 4 of them on it. As far as service goes in any industry except rakon quartz crystals there is big competition so if the service is **** and you can go somewhere else go for it. I dont like foreign people thats people not born here, complaining especialy englanders. They have a choice they can go home us people born here cant go anywhere so we are allowed to whinge. akm72 |

| 605292 | 2007-10-26 02:05:00 | Large dairy Shop assistant, shes on the phone yacking the entire time shes serving, every morning without fail, Indian was she? I asked my Indian friend why his mum (and others) always did that and he said its because they never get to go out so its the only way to stay in touch. Although his mum, who never stopped talking, did have 2 lines and was always polite to you - she'd chat in between her other conversation. |
