It took the engineering staff the same amount of time it takes today.

In the mid eighties along with a lot of other businesses the clerical side got the benefit of computerisation so the paperwork didn't get stuck in the intray of someone that's not at work for a few weeks.

606621 2007-10-30 22:18:00 It truly is amazing what changes have occurred in my lifetime. I was born in 1938, and families then were still only getting radios and refrigerators as the new latest technology. Many things advanced at pace due to the wartime developments, but progress was still slow compared with the knowledge explosion in so many fields over the last 20 to 30 years. Accelerating development in these areas makes me wonder what our grandchildren will see in the remaining years of even just this 21st century Richard (739)
606622 2007-10-30 23:08:00 We owned a 1960's flat in Mt Eden. Tenants mentioned that the fuses would blow if the clothes drier and heater were used at the same time.

We pointed out to them that back when the building was built the only major appliances were a stove, frig, TV, radio, heater and washing machine.

Overloading the flat with cordless phones, DVD players, computers, printers, scanners, driers, bedside alarms, various chargers, playstations, driers and all the rest were bound to cause fuses to blow at times.

We supplied fuse wire (and taught them how to use it). They learnt to balance their loads.

606623 2007-10-31 02:07:00 Sorry Mercury, my mind wasn't properly in gear this morning and I omitted to offer my condolences for the loss of your family member. Very sorry to hear that it was your Dad. We lost my husband's father earlier this month but his death was sudden and very unexpected. FoxyMX (5)
