606601 2007-10-31 01:38:00 Where do you people get the idea that I make a lot of money?

I'm about to build myself a new PC, too, because I need one . I just happen to have a trip to the USA to save up for and can't go spending money on everything I want to .

:xmouth:

Right .

I haven't had a new PC in years . I just change bits every now and then .

Haven't had a holiday since 1990 either .

606602 2007-10-31 02:46:00 Well, I guess we just have slightly different priorities. I'm not getting an entire PC, just the CPU, mobo (an RMA item where I bought a new one and then RMAd the faulty one), ram (which I have spare already), PSU. george12 (7)
606603 2007-10-31 02:52:00 Lighten up guys, and stop giving George such a hard time. Making use of an LCD screen nobody wants is better than having the thing dumped into our landfills. somebody (208)

I second that. If he doesn't need a new one, and wants to save some money and recycle, then good on him. We are a throw away society, and old computer parts are very quickly filling our landfills.

606605 2007-11-01 09:50:00 He can buy whatever he wants, My post was because there are people who are actually broke that are to proud to beg for half broken gear on a public forum.

If I'm out of line then so be it, No puppies were killed in the creation of my posts. Give the gear to people that can't afford it, or that would generally benefit from having something passed onto them for cheap.

Teenagers sitting on a pile of cash in their parents home should be able to get by....

I never said I wanted it dirt cheap. I appreciate your point, though. I don't think that by choosing to buy a 15" LCD instead of a brand new 17" I am depriving poor people of their (essential??) LCD monitors.

I posted the thread because if someone has an undesirable monitor, I have a reason to buy it off them, where most people would want a nicer looking one.

Anyway, I'll get whatever's going at the next Turners auction, so it doesn't matter.

I kind of see your point, but I am sure their is more than enough old computer parts to go around people who aren't well off. Trademe are full of old parts.
