605628 2007-10-26 17:44:00 ok i just broke my computer... i did a really stupid thing... 1 of my rams where not reading so i pushed it in as the computer was turned on....why i dont know cos i knew something would happen... and then the computer just switched off

now every time i start the computer up a blank screen is on... whats happened to it or should i say what will i need to replace

First thing you need to do is answer questions you are asked and also do not start new threads about the same problem. I had the time to look at your 12 posts this morning but most people would not bother.

Now as to your current problem:-
When you turn the computer on do you get one beep from the speaker in the case or do you get several beeps or no beeps?

605629 2007-10-26 18:09:00 i get no beeps when i turn computer on unless i take the ram out and i get constant beeps ( both rams have to be out) runnerjp (12926)
605630 2007-10-26 19:07:00 i get no beeps when i turn computer on unless i take the ram out and i get constant beeps ( both rams have to be out)

So we now know that the speaker in the case works.

Normal when you turn the computer on is one beep.
POST (Power On Self Test)

If you are not getting that then you have a problem.

Now the new RAM you bought. Is this compatible with your motherboard?

What make and model is your motherboard?
What RAM did you buy and from whom?

Do not be too fast to do something and please answer questions.

I am also certain others will come to your rescue. I will be home most of the day and will keep an eye on this thread.

605631 2007-10-26 20:13:00 Okay - as you may have learnt you turn off a PC before fiddling with internal components - Lesson Learnt hopefully.

Try this - You say you have more than 1 RAM Module
1 of my rams where not reading Remove both/All - place 1 module back in the first RAM slot and see if it boots (not worried about any speed- simply finding whats knackered)
If it doesn't switch off the PC - remove the RAM Module and try it in the other slot - repeat to see if it boots.
If the PC boots from one of the Slots then the other could be fried. IF it doesn't change any thing try the exact same procedure with the other Module.

Trying to figure out if its the board or 1 of the RAM modules causing the problem.

Report back - As Sweep said

I am probably confused but I took the time to read.

And please note that I believe your advice is correct.

As you and I can't KNOW then we eliminate problems one at a a time.

If I was you mate I'd cut my losses and pay a professional to look at it. I'm all for people fixing their own problems but everything you do seems to turn to custard. A decent PC tech could diagnose the problem in a couple hours and easily replace any faulty parts. Chances are you killed the new memory stick and I wouldn't be surprise if the motherboard and the other memory stick are now dead.

605635 2007-10-27 03:11:00 Try updating the BIOS .

And dont post the same question, about the same thing in 2-3 different posts/threads .
