605493 2007-10-26 08:01:00 I note that Parliament has not changed much since the late 1950's when I listened to it broadcast on 2YA in Wellington.

There were debates and arguments at that time but no punch ups.

Parliament should be televised 24/7 on their own channel so we can see what goes on.

Oh wait. Wrong idea. For some time the channel will not broadcast as like schools they seem to be off work.

I though it was - on a Freeview station.

Although, like C-Span, I think the people that watch it probably come away with an impression of how mind-numbingly and grindingly boring most parliamentary business actually is.

605495 2007-10-26 10:22:00 C-Span is fun. Sometimes the narrators really go after the politicians. Rare but awesome! beeswax34 (63)

But the MPs get paid to be bored do they not? Seemingly very well.

OK. I do not watch a lot in the way of TV. Do not have SKY, Freeview and etc. I have seen on TV some members of Parliament having a nap not so long ago. If I had a little nod off whilst at work and the boss found me like that I probably would not have a job today. I could always say my eyes were closed because I was thinking but if I was snoring at the same time then my boss may well say, "Yeah right"

I also remember listening to a debate over what time Parliament should rise. Someone put a motion (around 7:00 p.m.) that work stops at 9:00 p.m.
About 10:30 p.m. I went to sleep as the debate went on. I thought that it is a moot point by now.

I still vote in both General elections and Local Body as well.

For the record I am over 65. I also try to keep myself informed and work six days per week.
