| 605461 | 2007-10-26 09:56:00 | You have to give credit where credit is due.I don't now Paul Reynolds from a bar of soap. But what I have seen so far of him, is a man with genuine intent to bring this country back from the wilderness that it has been in for the past 8 years.Blame Theresa Guttang! for that. Quite literally!.I like what I see of this man,and I think N.Z is now in safe hands.Good luck to Telecom.....and I look forward to respectable internet speed in the near future. www.tv3.co.nz P.S Ditch the caps!.There like a vurruca on my foot. I believe telecom will probably be the only company that will be willing to spend that sort of money on getting ADSL 2+ into the small towns of NZ. Other companies will only concentrate their unbundled service on the key urban areas where they will get the biggest profit, and will resell telecoms services in other areas. You will probably find that people in these smaller towns will be paying more for their broadband, and people in urban areas will pay about the same or slightly cheaper than they do now. |

We need more people to be getting the theoretical 8mbps first, as well as dropping the horrible data caps we are currently restricted by. Couldnt have said it better myself Metla, totally agree... |

People will only be able to get the speeds quoted by telecom, if they live close to an exchange. That is one of the problems with ADSL technology. I think the new head of telecom is a likable rouge, like many politicans , car saleman and real estate agents. |

So why are we stopping or even happy with 8mbps? I mean NZ is turning into a knowledge based economy and thus our major links to the world all basically encompass the Internet (Web, VOiP, Video etc) SO why 8mbps? |

The theoretical speeds are fine. It's the speeds we actually get that are the problem |
