| 605341 | 2007-10-26 04:28:00 | I can sooo see this thread getting out of hand :stare: I doubt it since everyone here agrees that the article is a load of bollox. As Bletch put it: Until he publishes his test environment and what exactly was patched (and his criteria for ranking patches)... I'll take that with a very large grain of salt. All that seems to be on that page at the moment is a pile of colourful graphs designed to make Microsoft look good (or bad if you interpret that as saying 'MS doesn't fix bugs'). |

| 605342 | 2007-10-26 05:00:00 | I'd personally like to see charts of "vulnerabilities found" rather than just ones which are patched - the latter is useless really, as vendors could simply be slack at fixing security holes. | somebody (208) | ||

Are you deliberately trying to make 'doze look bad? If so, I have to tell you it is a factory fitted feature on every model sold. (That is not stirring, it's just the way it is.) And it works, look at the sales figures, and WMG will tell you that is vital. |

Don't forget to include the profit margin and actual systems compromised.:D |

| 605345 | 2007-10-26 05:27:00 | Well, I use XP. Its crap. But not as crap as Vista, Linux or Whatever crap apple are selling. The last 3 being so close to useless as to be....well, useless crap. That is to say, They don't suit me at all, not even close. |

It has its flaws (like all OSes), but I won't be changing from it anytime soon. I also run Windows 2k3 servers, and never had issues with them. What I am trying to do though, is just to make people aware of benchmarks being done in industry re: security and comparisons. Just because I like using Microsoft products doesn't mean I'm going to blindly defend them. When I first read this article I thought it was quite good, but the more I think about it the more I raise questions, hence why I posted it here to get some comments from others. |

I think that benchmark reviews sponsored by Microsoft have zero credibility compared to benchmarks from independent non Microsoft sponsored sources. Considering the lengths Microsoft goes to to spread FUD about Linux where it competes in the server field with Windows products. |
