773612 2009-05-13 22:54:00 Under XP I have always been able to show students how to register a new .ocx and then add it into a project, but under Vista and Win7 (I checked) it will not let me.

I have always demonstrated using mscal.oxc, a tiny MS Calendar control. Just right for my needs.

Vista refuses to let me and eventually I get to the error code 0x8002801c.

This leads to a web article at www.chilkatsoft.com 478.asp which offers a solution for this error. But the solution does not work for me.

I have no trouble adding into an application any of the ActiveXs that are already registered in my machine.

I can flick you a copy of mscal.oxc if you ask. Its small.

Thanks.

773613 2009-05-14 01:33:00 open a command prompt with admin rights - evenif you're an admin account, right click command prompt and choose Run as Admin (or similar wording). Now run the regsvr32 mscal.ocx command from there.

Or, you can turn off UAC and it will probably work as normal.
