773373 2009-05-12 12:43:00 Hi Guys,

I got rid of my page file a while ago, as I saw no need for it, having 4GB of RAM which I never ever use.

Recently I've been getting up to about 2.9GB usage and have been having warnings about low memory which I'd like to see go away. I'd prefer not to turn the page file back on. (I'm on 64bit, just to stop that debate in its track)(I also like Vista mostly, to stop the "Why aren't you on XP?" debate).

Is there any way around this? I'd like to actually be able to use the hardware that I paid for. Had I wanted to only use 3GB, I would have only bought that amount.

I'd ideally like to keep superfetch on, but if needed I'll ditch that.

Cheers guys. Long time, no read.
[EDIT]Oh, and girls too! Can't forget you lot.

773374 2009-05-12 12:50:00 Here (www.thehotfix.net) or here (forum.xcpus.com). Most replies say dont disable or move the page file, it runs out it may not boot Speedy Gonzales (78)
773375 2009-05-12 13:08:00 Sigh. Cache turned back on. I've given it 5GB to play with.

Why have it percentage based though? It makes no sense to give someone with 4GB a 75% warning. I still have as much free RAM as lots of people have in their machines. Excluding most present company of course.

I'd be pissed if I had 12GB and was given an 8GB warning.

773376 2009-05-12 21:43:00 The swap file has nothing to do with how much physical RAM you have. MS requires it anyway. Just leave it at Windows default settings and forget about it. pctek (84)

Agreed. Windows will always page things out of memory no matter how much RAM you have. Create a pagefile on another physical disk if you need the speed boost but you most likely won't notice any difference.
