773260	2009-05-12 02:10:00	My PC is stuck in power save mode. The power button is orange, and it will not boot up. Its a six year old Gateway running XP Professional. I searched for previous threads on this subject and found one that was similar. One of the responses suggested resetting the CMOS or removing the battery and letting it sit for 20 minutes. I tried these. I saw no way to reset anything. My PC is a lot older than the one in the thread. And, it was running Vista. But I did remove and replace the battery with a new one. No change. The machine was acting a little odd recently. It had shut down completely in the middle of being used a few times in the last month or so. I suspected something was going wrong. Good news is it prompted me to make sure my backup is current. For background, I replaced the power supply about a year or two ago. Any ides or suggestions?	robortiz59 (14239)

773262	2009-05-12 08:01:00	yeah id say power supply is on its way out if not then my guess is motherboard, my old computer wouldnt wake up when i put it to sleep, always had to reset bios. but that was the only issue. try a new psu, if your computers old then something must be due to die :thumbs:	hueybot3000 (3646)
773263	2009-05-12 10:54:00	At my previous work they got a lot of brand new Dells running XP and some of them would not come out of power save mode. Google found it not so uncommon for some new Dells. Yea don't start hate mail for Dells etc anyway we just disabled the power save and never had the problem again, maybe that's an option for you - for a while anyway	Ofthesea (14129)
