773052 2009-05-11 06:46:00 if anyones having problems getting this to work - you have to download This KB first (www.microsoft.com) - then the install the Virtual Machine (www.microsoft.com) -- Then it works (www.imagef1.net.nz) :banana wainuitech (129)
773053 2009-05-11 06:51:00 Yep, and then installed apps on the VM should magically appear in the start menu:)

The perfomance is not what I expected for a virtual machine, quite suprising actually. How are your experiences with it so far?

Picture Woth a thousand words (www.imagef1.net.nz) -- But its FAST - its a hell of a lot better than the other VM MS have, Mind you this thing should be able to handle it fine.

One thing I like is you can jump between VM and the 'real" desktop - meaning others I have used the cursor was trapped in the VM and you had to do certain key strokes to get out of it. - Hated that - and full screen is a LOT better as well. Much improved over the Other VM's.

If a PC wont run it then the CPU as mentioned in other posts may not support it - Links to software (www.microsoft.com) that will test your CPU - Intel & AMD

So far - Liking it

Actually with VirtualBox has that for ages, just had to install guest additions;)

With Virtualisation capibilities pretty much in most modern computers, the virtualisation issues wouldn't be too bad.

Wonder if you can get XP Modem VM to work in VirtualBox...;)

773056 2009-05-11 07:21:00 I wonder if it'll actually work without virtualisation. :p pcuser42 (130)
773057 2009-05-11 08:12:00 No, it is virtual PC and it is virtualising a CPU...:p Blam (54)
773058 2009-05-11 09:24:00 But I'm currently using Virtual PC 2007 without virtualisation. :p pcuser42 (130)
773059 2009-05-11 09:34:00 That doesn't make sense.....MS says the processor must support Intel VT or AMD-V technology:

773060 2009-05-11 09:57:00 That's for Windows 7's version though. ;) pcuser42 (130)
773061 2009-05-11 10:05:00 Indeed!
www.microsoft.com

Seems it works on most processors, even those without Virtualisation technologies....how does that work?:p

EDIT:After studying Wikipedia for a while it seems that hardware virtualisation makes performance better, but is not necessarily needed...? Don't quote me on this:p
